Blackened Cigars is the collaboration between Drew Estate and Blackened American Whiskey, the brand founded by Metallica. The M81 debut is a dark 'whiskey-drinker's maduro' built from all-dark tobaccos, and the line has grown from there. Celebrity collaborations are usually all label and no blend. Blackened is the exception - it comes out of Drew Estate's Estelí operation, and the M81 is a genuinely well-built dark maduro that stands on its own.
