Can the general public buy wholesale cigars?
From most distributors, no - the traditional wholesale trade requires a resale license and refuses consumer orders outright. MDC works differently: our catalog is open, and anyone 21+ can order boxes at the listed distributor pricing with no license, account, or minimum. Our business is still built on venues and retailers; the catalog just doesn’t check your badge at the door.
Do I need a tobacco or resale license to order?
No. A resale license matters if you plan to RESELL cigars in a retail setting (your state may require one for that). To simply buy boxes from our catalog for yourself, an event, or your business, no license or paperwork is needed - add to cart and check out like any store.
Is wholesale really cheaper than a cigar shop or big online retailers?
Structurally, yes. Shops retail at roughly 1.8x-2.5x wholesale to cover rent and staff, and big online retailers price between the two levels. Buying at the distribution level, by the box, removes most of that spread. Every MDC listing shows the per-cigar cost so you can compare against anyone.
Is there a minimum order?
No minimum. One box is a fine first order. Cigars are sold by the box (that’s what wholesale means in practice - no singles), same-day shipping, and cigar orders over $1,000 ship free nationwide.
