Padrón Series (1000–7000)
The core line. Nicaraguan puro, box-pressed, natural or maduro wrapper. Every humidor starts here.
For decades, Padrón has been the reference point for premium Nicaraguan cigars - aged tobaccos, box-pressed construction, and consistency that doesn't wobble from box to box. Padrón is an allocation brand: MDC gets concierge-tier allocation access because we run concierge-level programs for hospitality and retail partners. That means rotation discipline to keep your humidor in stock and the relationship to answer questions when supply runs tight.
Padrón is the single most-asked-for premium brand in the U.S. market, and has been for fifteen years. Retailers who don't carry it don't get the benefit of the doubt from serious buyers. Venues that carry it well - with the right vitolas, in the right sizes, kept in proper humidity - anchor their entire premium category around it.
MDC has distributed Padrón continuously since our first wholesale accounts in 2013. We've built the inventory discipline to keep the core line-up in depth through seasonal supply shifts, and the relationships with our upstream suppliers to have honest conversations when a specific size or wrapper is running tight. We don't promise allocation we can't deliver, and we'd rather keep a retailer well-stocked on the Padrón 2000 than dangle a limited release we can't source.
For most hospitality and retail accounts, Padrón represents 12–20% of the opening inventory - depth on 3–5 vitolas across the core line, with the maduro wrappers doing more work in the upper-tier than the natural wrappers. Your MDC rep will size the Padrón allocation inside your broader humidor proposal based on your clientele profile.
“Padrón is in our standing rotation because the accounts we serve - from casinos to cigar bars - sell through it consistently. That's the only reason a brand stays on our line card.”
Not every SKU in the Padrón catalog is in our standing rotation - we curate to what actually moves at retail. These are the core lines we keep in depth.
The core line. Nicaraguan puro, box-pressed, natural or maduro wrapper. Every humidor starts here.
Sun-grown maduro wrapper. Rich, cocoa-forward profile that pairs definitively with bourbon and aged rum.
The Padrón Anniversary core line. 6½ × 50 Maduro or Natural. Anchor SKU for any upper-tier humidor.
Short corona format (4½ × 46). Fast-moving upgrade SKU for bar service where session length matters.
Churchill vitola (7 × 50). Signature Padrón 1964 experience in a longer session format.
The Connecticut-wrapped Padrón. Milder profile, approachable for guests transitioning up from Macanudo.
Padrón works in every venue format MDC services. The one exception: a starter convenience-store humidor opening with 150 cigars and 8 SKUs usually doesn't have room for Padrón until the account proves sell-through - the price point demands a customer base that recognizes the brand.
For everyone else, Padrón is core rotation: hospitality programs (hotel bars, resort terraces, casino high-limit rooms), golf clubs, steakhouses, cigar bars, premium liquor stores, and every specialty cigar retailer. The core line (1964 Exclusivo specifically) is one of the three or four most-requested cigars at any given hotel bar in the country.
Padrón pricing holds its value at retail better than almost any other brand in the category. Core line wholesale-to-retail runs 2.0–2.5×, with the 1964 series pushing 2.2–2.8× and specialty releases sometimes higher at cigar-bar service points. A $10 wholesale 1964 Exclusivo retails at $22–$28 on the shelf and serves at $28–$35 in hospitality.
The secondary margin story is brand gravity: customers come to you for Padrón. Every Padrón sale pulls a beverage ticket (often a bourbon flight or single-barrel pour). Missing Padrón off the humidor loses not just the cigar sale but the adjacent tickets.
The MDC approach to any brand is the same: start with a curated core rotation sized to your venue, prove sell-through, then layer in deeper SKU coverage as the account matures. For a typical hospitality account, a Padrón program begins with 2–3 vitolas across 40–60 cigars of opening depth, paired with the other brands that complement your overall humidor structure.
Because Padrón is one of the core workhorse brands in the category, it's almost always part of the MDC opening-proposal for any new account - the exact SKUs and depth vary by whether you're running a bar-led hospitality program, a dedicated cigar lounge, or a pro-shop display. Your rep builds the proposal fast once you apply, with real numbers keyed to your venue.
Other brands frequently paired with Padrón in MDC programs: Arturo Fuente , My Father , Oliva , Ashton . For the complete list of brands MDC distributes, see the wholesale cigar brands index. For the programs each brand fits - hospitality, retail, cigar bar - see Cigars for Hospitality and Cigars for Retail.
Apply to open an MDC account. We'll look at your venue profile, your existing rotation (if any), and tell you exactly what a Padrón program should look like on your floor - opening SKUs, depth, price points, and how it pairs with the rest of your humidor.
Every month without Padrón on your shelf is margin your competitors are collecting. Your rep can have it in your first shipment within a week of approval.
P.S. Padrón has been in MDC's standing rotation for 14+ years. If MDC can help your business, we can get you into a first shipment within a week of qualifying.
