Toscano Classico
The benchmark Toscano - the traditional tapered shape, fire-cured Kentucky tobacco, and the option to smoke it whole or cut it in half the Italian way.
Toscano is the iconic Italian cigar, rolled with dark fire-cured Kentucky-seed tobacco since the early 1800s. Dry-cured and intensely flavorful, it needs no humidor and smokes like nothing else on the shelf. MDC stocks the classic lines plus the short-format Toscanello.
Every other brand on the MDC line card is a handmade Caribbean-style premium. Toscano is the exception, and that is exactly why it earns its spot: a dry-cured Italian cigar with two centuries of history, a smoky fire-cured flavor, and a loyal following that includes plenty of guests who discovered it through Italian family tradition or a certain genre of western films. Because it is a dry cigar, it does not even need humidor space.
MDC carries 11 active SKUs across the Toscano family - the traditional long cigars in Classico, Antico, Extravecchio, and Garibaldi, the Limited Brenta, and the short-format Toscanello for a quick smoke. Most traditional formats come in practical 50-count packs.
“Toscano is in our standing rotation because the accounts we serve - from casinos to cigar bars - sell through it consistently. That's the only reason a brand stays on our line card.”
Not every SKU in the Toscano catalog is in our standing rotation - we curate to what actually moves at retail. These are the core lines we keep in depth.
The benchmark Toscano - the traditional tapered shape, fire-cured Kentucky tobacco, and the option to smoke it whole or cut it in half the Italian way.
A fuller, more intense take on the tradition. The pick for seasoned smokers who want the deepest fire-cured flavor.
The extra-aged expression - rounder and more refined than the Classico. The premium slot in the Toscano section.
A classic named for the Italian hero - approachable, aromatic, and a strong everyday seller in the range.
The short half-size format. A 15-20 minute smoke that pairs famously with espresso - ideal for cafes, bars, and quick-service moments.
Toscano is the definition of a differentiator. Italian restaurants and espresso-forward cafes are the natural home - a Toscanello with coffee or amaro is a genuine Italian ritual - and cigar lounges use the brand to give serious smokers something completely different. Because it is dry-cured, it also works for liquor stores and bars with no humidor at all: no maintenance, no beetle risk, no dry-out losses. The intense, smoky profile skews full-flavored, so position it as a bold change of pace rather than a starter cigar.
MDC's active Toscano SKUs run roughly $129-$184 per box wholesale - and the traditional lines come in 50-count packs, which makes the per-stick cost remarkably low for a cigar with this much heritage. Venues typically retail at 1.8x-2.5x wholesale, and the cut-in-half tradition means some venues effectively sell two smokes per stick.
The MDC approach to any brand is the same: start with a curated core rotation sized to your venue, prove sell-through, then layer in deeper SKU coverage as the account matures. For a typical hospitality account, a Toscano program begins with 2–3 vitolas across 40–60 cigars of opening depth, paired with the other brands that complement your overall humidor structure.
Because Toscano is one of the core workhorse brands in the category, it's almost always part of the MDC opening-proposal for any new account - the exact SKUs and depth vary by whether you're running a bar-led hospitality program, a dedicated cigar lounge, or a pro-shop display. Your rep builds the proposal fast once you apply, with real numbers keyed to your venue.
Other brands frequently paired with Toscano in MDC programs: Villiger , La Aurora , Romeo Y Julieta . For the complete list of brands MDC distributes, see the wholesale cigar brands index. For the programs each brand fits - hospitality, retail, cigar bar - see Cigars for Hospitality and Cigars for Retail.
Apply to open an MDC account. We'll look at your venue profile, your existing rotation (if any), and tell you exactly what a Toscano program should look like on your floor - opening SKUs, depth, price points, and how it pairs with the rest of your humidor.
Every month without Toscano on your shelf is margin your competitors are collecting. Your rep can have it in your first shipment within a week of approval.
P.S. Toscano has been in MDC's standing rotation for 14+ years. If MDC can help your business, we can get you into a first shipment within a week of qualifying.
